PAVA MANNIPPU

Image result for sivaji ganesan

Recently I saw an old Tamil movie, released during 1961,called "Pava Mannippu"-directed by A.Bhim Singh and music by Viswanathan and Ramamurthy-under AVM banner.

It is a story about three children abducted from their homes and raised by foster parents, grow up in Muslim,Christian and Hindu households. This is a very good movie depicting national integration and current generation people should watch this movie. All the actors and actresses have given great performance, making it a memorable movie. With Sivaji Ganesan in the subdued role, greatly supported by Gemini Ganesan, Balaiah, M.R.Radha, S.V.Subbaiah, V.Nagaiah, Savithri,Devika and M.V.Rajamma,this movie became a hit and ran for 100 days.

Another plus point of this movie is the songs. All the songs are melodius, meaningful and appropriately put. Even today the songs are worth listening and enjoyable. The singer P.B.Srinivas became very famous for his song,"Kalangalil Aval Vasantham".
When the movie was released, there was a competition for grading the six songs of this movie.

Even today, I could enjoy this movie

EAR TO THIS

Doctors in the US have reattached a 19 year old girl’s ear, which was entirely torn off by a dog, with the help of blood sucking leeches. A pit bull attack left the girl’s left ear entirely torn off. Surgeons at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence attached a tiny artery to the girl’s blood supply with three microscopic stitches .The artery brought fresh blood to the ear, but the team could not find a vein to drain blood back to the body. Therefore they turned to the blood sucking leeches, which have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in the medicine, Life Science reported.”The body is very efficient at making new arteries and veins, so the leeches are temporary”, Stephen Sullivan, a plastic Surgeon at the hospital said.

NOBLE MAN

. M.K.RAJAN
Mr.Rajan was  a senior partner in M/S M.S.KRISHNASWAMI  & RAJAN. My association with him was from the day I joined Ashok Leyland in 1973 till his death. I felt really sad and upset on hearing about his death.
He was always a down to earth person.  Always pleasant faced, liberal minded and helpful. I would like to quote a few instances.
1.       When I was in his house , a priest came there to invite him for her daughter’s marriage. The priest appeared to be poor. Mr.Rajan went inside and came back with a blank cheque and asked him to fill up the amount.. The priest was happy and touched by his act .
2.       When I joined Ashok Leyland, I was asked by my boss to give a presentation on Inflation accounting and exchange fluctuations. Since that was my first presentation, I was bit nervous. Mr.Rajan immediately understood my position and took up the presentation himself. I was very much relieved at that point of time.
3.       Mr.Rajan took us for a movie called,” Meendum Kokila”. He was very much attracted by Sridevi, who acted as heroine in that film. Since Mr.Rajan’s initial was MK, I used to make fun of him by calling him Meendum Kokila Rajan. He really liked it and started telling everybody about that .
4.       Our Managing Director wanted to sign an important agreement  on a particular day. On that day,Mr.Rajan was available and he had a new Mont Blanc pen (very costly pen). Our MD saw that pen and asked Mr.Rajan whether he can lend it for signing the agreement. Instead of lending he presented the pen to him.
5.       One of our colleagues  Mr.Saranathan was diagnosed  with kidney failure. He needed immediate dialysis and he was not a wealthy person. We decided  to collect some money for him. At that time Mr.Rajan was doing audit  of our company. He immediately gave a cheque for Rs5000. Mr.Saranathan’s daughter gave one of her kidneys to him and he survived for about 4 years.
6.       Mr.Rajan was very fond of eating food. He used to take us for lunch in various small hotels of his choice and will recommend what should be eaten there. Everywhere he will not allow us to pay
for the bill.
7.       He used encourage his apprentices by suitable monetary gift. While doing  audit, one of the apprentices came out with  a good suggestion on a particular point and he immediately gave Rs3000 to him as a reward.
I can quote number of instances like that .

He became sick during  2012. At that time I was planning to go to USA for about 6 months. I came to know about his sickness just before leaving. So I rang up to his residence and I was told by his wife that  he is not able to recognize people. However she told me to talk to him and see whether he is able to recognize. I was pleasantly surprised when he recognized me. I told him that I am leaving for USA on the next day and therefore not in a position to visit him. He wished me and told me in tamil “pathu poya”.(Meaning go carefully). That was the last voice of him I heard. Within 4 days of reaching USA, I got a message that he passed away. I was very sad and upset.  It is very rare to see such a noble person

MISSING THEM

The following colleagues, who worked with me in Ashok Leyland ,passed away recently.
Mr.P.V.Santhanakrishnan
He was affectionately called by everybody as “PVS”. Always pleasant faced, very rarely gets angry and helpful. He worked hard, stayed late hours to complete the pending jobs and had excellent relationship with all the suppliers (Retired as DGM-Purchase) and Executives from other departments. One of his daughters was physically disabled. I was told that he used to take his daughter for an outing every day, without fail, whatever be the time. This really showed his commitment to the Company and Family.  He was an excellent human being with kind heart and helpful nature. I really miss him.
Mr.P.Appalaraju
He was in Product Development Division as DGM.  We were car mates for nearly 5 years. Always energetic and enthusiastic. He can discuss any subjects. Very active participant in various forums, ISO activities, etc. He always had a smiling face and fights for the right cause. I was very fortunate to have friendship with him. I miss him very much.
Mr.S.V.Ramani
He was in Legal Department and retired as DGM. We almost joined together in the company. He was very friendly and helpful, inspite of non-cooperation shown by his Department to Finance in earlier days. I was told that he was offered extension  after  retirement but he refused to take the same. He joined a private company as a legal consultant and was working , till his death. When our son booked a flat, I went to his house for his opinion on the documents. He was glad to go through the same and cleared it. He was very religious and pious. I really miss him, as he was an excellent human being.
I SINCERELY PRAY FOR THE GREAT SOULS TO REST IN  PEACE.

LIFE AFTER DEATH

An Australian woman (41) was ,on Monday, brought back to life,in Melbourne, after having been declared clinically dead for 42 minutes, following a cardiac arrest. Doctors at the Monash Medical Centre used a Lucas-2,the only compression device of its kind in the country-to circulate blood to Vanessa Tanasio's brain while attempting to unblock her main artery.

The device,as during cardiopulmonary resuscitation, physically compresses the chest and allows doctors to insert a stent into a blood vessel. Her heart was then shocked back into a normal rhythm. Tanasio, a mother of two, said she remembered," being on the couch, then on the floor, then arriving at the hospital and then two days go missing.I was dead for nearly an hour and only a week later,I feel great. It's surreal."

LEANING TOWER OF PISA

The Leaning Tower of Pisa is continuing its steady return to "straightness",according to reports.According to a group in charge of monitoring the structure, the tower has recovered roughly 2.5 cm of its vertical incline between 2001 and 2013.Since 1992,the vertical inclination of the tower has moved from 4.5 meters to 4.1. Several "rescue" interventions, some of which are underground, were conducted to stabilize the tower and the researchers were able to achieve a 2.5 cm decrease over the last decade. The slight progress has allowed the tower to retain its popular modifier and experts say that it can now be considered safe for the next two to three centuries.

LOST GENERATION

A palindrome reads the same backwards as forward. Not only this message reads the opposite, the meaning is the exact opposite. This message through a video was submitted in a contest by a 20 year old.The contest was titled "u@50" by AARP and it won the second place.Everyone,in the presentation was awestruck and broke into spontaneous applause. So simple and yet so brilliant.
PART OF LOST GENERATION BY JONATHAN REED.

I relaize this may be a shock but
"Happiness comes from within"
is a lie and
"Money will make me happy"
So in 30 years I will tell my children
They are the most important thing in my life
My employer will know that
I have priorities straight because
work
is more important than
family
I tell you this
once upon a time
Families stayed together
but this will not be true in my era
This is a quick fix society
Experts tell me.
30 years from now I will be celebrating the anniversary of
                                                                                             my divorce
I cannot concede that
I will live a country of my own making
In the future
Environmental destruction will be the norm
No longer can it be said that
My peers and I care about the earth
It will be evident that
My generation is apathetic and lethargic
It is foolish to presume that
there is hope.

And all of this will come true unless we choose to reverse it
